Anthony Mullally extends loan deal at Bradford Bulls

Huddersfield head coach Paul Anderson has confirmed that prop Anthony Mullally has extended his loan spell at the Bradford Bulls, after his one-month loan deal came to a close last weekend.

Mullally has struggled for game time at the Giants in 2014, and has been in good form for the Bulls since he arrived at Odsal – offering a much-needed boost to a Bradford pack that is low on numbers. But Anderson confirmed today that the 22-year-old will remain at the Bulls for an extended period, with understanding the Ireland international will be at Bradford for the remainder of the season, unless Huddersfield exercise their right to recall.

“He’ll stay at Bradford for the foreseeable future,” Anderson confirmed in his pre-match press conference today.

“We’ve a right to recall him so he can come back here at any time. He’s a front-rower, and Franny (Cummins) can’t seem to find any of those at the moment.

“The way the game is structured is that once you get past 19 and you’re not in the first-team squad, where do you play?

“He’ll be playing week in week out, and that’s exactly what we need. Anthony will be coming back a better player because he is getting game time.”

Speaking about the decision to stay at the Bulls, Mullally said: “I am really enjoying it here and it will help me, in terms of my performances, knowing where I am going to be playing,” said Mullally, who has made a trio of appearances for the Bulls since arriving in February.

“I have had a good first month with the Bulls and am getting plenty of game time, which is fantastic.

“It is better for me because I know I am going to be here for the foreseeable future, rather than just another few weeks or so.

“I am committed to the Bradford cause and am very much looking forward to the challenges ahead.”
