BARLA confirm investigation into Yorkshire Cup mayhem

The British Amateur Rugby League Association has moved quickly, following disturbing scenes after last Sunday’s Xamax BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final, to launch an investigation.

The police were called to Hunslet Hawks’ South Leeds Stadium when fighting allegedly broke out between players and supporters of North Hull Knights and Fryston Warriors, who had won the game by a record 50-10 margin.

BARLA officials have confirmed that, although a file has been opened, no further action, in accordance with procedure, can be taken until seven days have elapsed from the date of the incident. A referee’s report and a police report are also required.
