Halifax RLFC are likely to be without Simon Grix for the start of the new season.
The loose-forward, who made the switch back to his hometown club ahead of the new season, is still in rehabilitation following an horrific injury suffered playing for Warrington in 2014.
Grix represents Halifax’s marquee signing of the close-season, however it is doubtful that he will be 100% for Halifax’s opening day clash with Whitehaven on February 7th.
“Simon probably won’t make the start of the year,” head coach Richard Marshall told TotalRL.com.
“There’s been no setback, we haven’t got a period of time for him to be 100% fit. He’s working with the best physios and practitioners available. He suffered a horrendous injury and he had his shoulder done whilst he was out too. We’re optimistic and hopeful that he can play a part by the start but there are no guarantees.”
Things are looking more promising for full-back Miles Greenwood, who is recovering from a broken leg suffered at the start of last season.
“We’re hopeful that we’ll see Miles at the start of the season,” said Marshall.
“I genuinely hope Miles pulls through and can be the player I saw at the start of last year.”
