Hewitt swaps Saints for Eagles

Sheffield Eagles have added highly-rated young St Helens halfback Dave Hewitt to their full-time squad on a two-year deal.

Hewitt is the seventh new signing for the Eagles during a busy close-season, and he will again link up with former team-mate Matty Fozard, who also swapped Langtree Park for South Yorkshire last month.

Hewitt spent time out on loan at Championship One side Oldham last season, where he played alongside George Tyson and Adam Neal, who have also made the switch to the Eagles.

Eagles coach Mark Aston said: “He is a player that we really like and he comes to us highly recommended by some senior figures in the game.

“Dave is another with bags of talent and he is coming to us from a full-time environment, which will help his integration.”
