Josh Charnley “not interested” in ClubCall

Wigan Warriors winger Josh Charnley has insisted he doesn’t really care who the club get in the play-offs next weekend, saying the concept of the ClubCall doesn’t interest him at all.

Wigan will be left with whoever St Helens do not pick in the ClubCall this evening, with many suspecting a Wigan v Warrington semi-final is in the offing next Friday. But Charnley says he isn’t really bothered who they have to play – saying that they know they can beat anyone.

Speaking in his Manchester Evening News column, Charnley said: “Super League’s controversial ClubCall system does not interest me one bit.

“I am not a fan of it and I am certainly not bothered who we end up being paired with in next week’s play-off semi-final. Whoever it is, we know we can beat them.”

Charnley has also said that regardless of their opponents, the Warriors are going to take some stopping to avoid them retaining their Super League trophy next month – such is the confidence amongst the players heading into the game next week.

“I don’t want to sound arrogant – this is the mood in the camp. Right through the dressing room there is strong self-belief and a steely determination to be back at Old Trafford for the Grand Final.

“Trust me, we are going to take some stopping.”
