Rugby League legend Kevin Sinfield’s chances of winning the Sports Personality of the Year award could be shortening, after one bookmaker priced him up as joint-fourth favourite to win the award.
BoyleSports have Sinfield behind only Andy Murray, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Tyson Fury in the running to win the prestigious award, with Sinfield priced up at 16/1 alongside Formula 1 world champion and last year’s winner, Lewis Hamilton.
Murray guided Great Britain to their first Davis Cup victory for 79 years and is now clear favourite with punters to claim his second BBC SPOTY award having last won it in 2013. Murray was available at 15/8 on Monday, but has since been backed into 5/6 by punters to win the award.
Liam Glynn, BoyleSports’ spokesperson said: “Andy Murray is all the rage with punters to win the BBC SPOTY award for a second year having last won the crown in 2013. Following a surge of bets our traders have had no choice but to clip the man who guided Great Britain to their first Davis Cup victory for 79 years into the new odds on favourite.”
